Teaching Relationship Marketing
What is Relationship Marketing?
In the world of Marketing, Internet Marketing, Network Marketing, MLM etc, it is important to build relationships, that is the keyword here, building relationships with people before trying to sell them or pitch them your product or service. I hate being pitched to and I am sure you do too, yet we continue to do it when working in our own businesses and we don’t stop to think how it hurts our business.
Think of it like when you go into a store to purchase something, you know exactly what it is your looking for, but when a salesperson approaches you and asks if they can help, you immediately say “no”, I am just looking.” We get on the defensive; even if the salesperson just asks if you are having a good day, you can’t wait to get away from them…I know I do. Because we fear we are going to be sold to or pitched to.
But when someone has educated us all about a product or service, and we have learned all the features, colors, styles, shapes, etc., we “want to buy it, we got to have it, we can’t live without it!
That is what relationship marketing is all about…teaching someone what they need, what they don’t have, how they can do better, helping them to get there and helping is another keyword. Ask your client/lead; how can I help you, in your business, is there a problem that I can help with or make a suggestion. You are building a relationship and trust.
Introduce yourself…a small outline will do but let them know that you are the expert and they will keep coming back to you.
Then Educate them…tell them you are here to help them, find out who the person is and what there needs are.
Start a relationship with them…get to know them by asking questions about their present business are they getting help from their sponsor or company etc.
Educate them again…give them more information that will help them, something you may have done that helped you immensely in your business.
Develop a relationship…ask deeper questions; get them to trust you, give them a free gift or two, a e-book, a video etc. that relates to their business.
Educate them more…give them information that you have that will help them in their business…
Maintain the Relationship…people buy from people they trust.
Just tell the truth at all times…lying or exaggerating is never appropriate.
Any relationship means building trust early on demonstrating a genuine interest, treat the relationship as a process over time by molding the marketing message and tactics along with your honesty and sincerity you will find that this approach will prove to have very high customer satisfaction and be highly profitable as well.
By being real, building rapport, giving and serving others is SO WORTH IT! But remember relationships take time.
Remember to continue your relationship even if they don’t buy your product or come into your business right away they may just need time and you can still promote to them by sending postcards, holiday cards, newsletters, product announcements and it is worth the effort.
